My kids LOVE nutella but it’s loaded with sugar and it’s a constant battle not to eat it daily but I am so glad that now I have an incredible replacement that is kid approved! I’m definitely calling this a mom win! No special ingredients required – just simple, clean ingredients that the whole family will love and enjoy.
Believe it or not but my boys were eating this delicious, sugar-free nutella right out of the food processor bowl. Zachie (my 7 year old) asked, ‘mama can I have this nutella everyday?’ ‘Yes, baby! This one is okay to have everyday.’
The first and MOST important step to this recipe is roasting the hazelnuts. I get my hazelnuts from Costco, the package states that they are already roasted but I like to ‘re-roast’ them just a bit. I recommend hanging close to the oven during the roasting process, you do not want to end up with burnt/bitter nuts. This process takes about 10-15 minutes, depending on your oven.
The other secret ingredient that kicks this nutella up a notch is the black cocoa powder, it brings a deep chocolatey flavor to this delicious spread.
I didn’t have any confectioners sweetener on hand but that was an easy fix. I added pyure to a coffee grinder and ran it until it was ground into powered ‘sugar.’
Have you ever had a brownie topped with nutella? I did and let me tell you it’s super delicious! I also made a nutella sandwich using my single serve low carb bread and now you too can enjoy one guilt-free.

This is really good but mine came out very runny! Maybe you should reduce the amount of coconut milk? 10ozs seems like a lot!
Hi Sharon. I’m sorry that happened to you. Did you use the coconut milk pictured (canned) or coconut milk from a carton? That would make a big difference.
I used unsweetened canned coconut milk!
I can not wait to try this recipe. I love nutella!!!
I’m wondering if the 10 oz. coconut milk the correct amount? Mine turned out like milk.
My “nutella” turned out like milk! Is the 10 oz. coconut milk the correct amount?
Hey, my batch came out really runny! =( Taste good though.
I’m not sure why that happened. That’s never happened to me. Is it any better this morning with it sitting in the fridge over night?
Hi. Sorry I didn’t respond right away, I’ve been trying to figure out what could have gone wrong. Did you use regular coconut milk or canned, like the one pictured?
What can you substitute for the Pyure? I have all the THM sweeteners.
Hi Jules. Yes, you absolutely can substitute, how much though I don’t know. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful.
You can google a thm sweetener conversion chart.
