Trim Healthy Mama S/E / Family Favorite
My kids love Chinese food and their favorite is lo mein. Whenever they get lo mein they make me pick out all the veggies, they basically want flavored pasta. This easy substitute is great, they love it and it’s so quick to make that I don’t mind making it for them anytime they want it. You can definitely dress it up with thinly sliced peppers, carrots or onions. You can also add a couple table spoons of sesame oil for more flavor. But like I mentioned earlier, my kids like it simple so that’s how I make it for them.
*If you are following the Trim Healthy Mama plan use Dreamfields pasta. Depending which fuel you want to keep your meal in you might need to skip the butter.
Ingredients
- 1 lb spaghetti*
- 1 tbsp salt
- 7-8 tbsp Liquid Aminos
- 3 tbsp butter*
1. Boil water in a large pot. Once it comes to a boil add salt. Add pasta.
2. As the pasta starts to cook, stir it well with tongs so the noodles don’t stick to each other.
3. Drain cooked pasta in a colander, rinse with water (just a few seconds).
4. Return the pasta do a large pan (this is my favorite pan) add butter if using, turn the heat on to medium high.
5. Add liquid aminos and stir using your tongs. Cook until the pasta has absorbed all the liquid. You can add more or less depending on how flavorful you want it. 7 tbsp seems to be the sweet spot for my kids.
Enjoy!
