Dalgona Coffee

Trim Healthy Mama Fuel Pull / Keto / Low Carb / Sugar Free / Family Favorite

Coffee is one of those little indulgences in my life that brings me great joy. I have learned to make such good coffee at home that I have a really hard time going out for coffee. This Dolgona Coffee is beyond amazing, because I try to eat sugar-free I use pyure in my coffee and cashew milk as my base. I have received so many questions over the past week asking if different coffees or sweeteners would work. I decided to put them to the test. In order for the coffee to whip into stiff peaks you must use either instant coffee or instant espresso but from there you can add whatever sweetener and flavor (extracts) you want – trust me you will not be disappointed. If you choose to use a nut milk (cashew is my absolute favorite) and a sweetener this delicious ‘dessert’ is essentially calorie free, the low carb option is only 36 calories in total. I call that a win! You can also add your favorite extracts or flavorings to really boost the flavor.

If you do not like coffee try the Dalgona Matcha, also, super delicious and good for you!

Dalgona Hot Chocolate is yet another option – it’s a fancier version of hot chocolate, it’s much deeper in flavor and smother in taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp boiling water
  • 1 tbsp instant coffee or espresso
  • 1 tsp your preferred sweetener (I use pyure for the low carb option)
  • 1 cup cashew milk (any milk will work)

Instructions

1. Place water, coffee and sweetener in a narrow bottom glass or cup, using an electric whisk and whisk until stiff peaks form.

2. To make a cold refreshing coffee fill a large glass 3/4 way with ice and pour milk over the ice. Top with whipped coffee. Gently stir.

3. If you want a cozy hot coffee, heat your milk until it’s steaming. Top with whipped coffee. The hot milk will slowly begin to melt your whipped coffee creating these beautiful streaks. Gently stir.

Try it and let me know what you think by posting a picture over on Instagram and tagging me @mytrimkitchen.

Enjoy!

I did an experiment how different sweeteners will stand up to the whipping process – pyure, honey, sugar and maple syrup.

As you can see, I was able to get beautiful peaks with all the 4 sweeteners I tried. Which ever way you make it I know for a fact you are going to enjoy it.

  1. I don’t drink coffee sweetened, wondering does this need a sweetener to whip up or would it work with just coffee and water? Thanks for all your hard work and effort to provide THM recipes… really appreciate it ❤️

Hey everyone! Go make one! It’s amazing! Easy! I used a hand mixer to make mine and it whipped up very thick. I made a double recipe for hubby and me. I wish I could post a picture here. It turned out BEAUTIFUL!! Thank you, thank you mytrimkitchen! 💕

  4. I don’t have instant coffee? Have u tried it with regular coffee grounds ?? I have recently discovered your site ! And I love it

    1. Hi. Thank you, I really appreciate you saying that ♥️ regular coffee grounds will not work. It has to be either instant coffee or instant espresso. I hope that helps.

    1. I’ve never tried but unless you are making a triple batch, I don’t think it would work. The blades have to be completely covered for the coffee to become whipped. I hope this helps.

    1. Immersion blender won’t work as well. Try using a hand held mixer with only one beater. Or if you are making a few cups of coffee you can use a kitchen aid but it won’t work for just one

  5. Luda – thanks for this! I usually have a treat of Starbucks once a month and was missing it (too far away from my home). Made this today and now I never need Starbucks again! But I think it was gone in 2 min! Love following you and appreciate all your THM friendly recipes!
